HENRIETTE D’ANGEVILLE
Henriette d’Angeville (1794-1871) was the second woman to reach the summit of Mont Blanc in 1838 after Marie Paradis did so in 1808. From an aristocratic family, she held a genuine passion for that mountain. She prepared the expedition with care, designing a Scotland wool outfit for the occasion that she produced herself. She can be considered the first female mountain climber in history.
