THE PROJECT
From 2017 to 2020 the National Mountain Museum of the Italian Alpine Club – Turin section, and the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Alpine Museum have been committed to the Interreg Alcotra iAlp project, dedicated to promoting alpine culture’s patrimony. The iAlp activities allow the two museums to develop their international exposure, both by working on the existing patrimony of the collections, putting together a series of innovative instruments and launching new valid partnerships: a collection of best practices that will have a positive effect on regular activities that are moving ahead parallel to, and mixing in with, the European work plan. The common actions in course are ensuring the filing and digitalisation of parts of the collection, improving methods of conservation and implementation of this digital platform to permit access to a significant part of the collection, conceived to extend accessibility to a vast and diverse public through an innovative and straightforward approach.
The platform is now available to all entities of the IMMA – International Mountain Museums Alliance network.
